All of the ORC discussion reminder me of something...

When I got my new QD Hub City Made-In-USA black oxide ORC a couple weeks back, it came in a box with an instruction sheet. I thought it was interesting that they said to remove the zerk fitting after greasing it, and replace it with the supplied allen screw. Makes sense to me that one less rotating part to catch hold of me is a good thing, so I'm preaching that now.

Grease it, remove the zerk fitting, cap it with a allen screw. Be safe.

I'm sure that's a good thing, safety first. I would hope you wouldn't get so confident in your safety steps that you would absent mindedly get near the spinning pto shaft. As for me, when we're working, we might hook up to 4 or 5 implements a day. Our standard operatering procedure, is to hook up, then pump a few shots of grease into each fitting before use. This not only pushes fresh grease into the system, but it makes us do a cursory check of the machine before we fire it up. If I had to remove and replace each grease fitting every time I wanted to use an implement, I'd quit.
With over 30 fittings on my corn picker, it'd take me a day to get it ready, and the only piece that ever hurt anyone, were the snap rollers that caught my nephew's hand,, not cause of the machine, but because he did a STUPID thing. That cost him a finger, and he was lucky. Keep doing what works, but don't count on Manufacturers to protect you from yourself. Ron

That is silly! If I had to go thru the motions of re-installing the Zerk everytime I wanted to grease the ORC, it wouldn't get greased too many times! As it is now, it gets a couple of pumps everytime I use the bush-hog. Lawyers must be behind this! They are stupidly afraid some a**hole will get his self caught in the PTO and will sue! If ya get that close, something else will have caught ya before the Zerk Fitting! Like the Universal Thing! Think it thru! This country is getting too soft! But that's another rant, hehehe. ;-)

mine is the same, I put the zerk on temporarily and then put back the allen-wrench plug thing.

I have my Hub City ORC covered with a custom made cover. I don't remove my zerk after I grease it. Since this photo was taken I drilled a hole through the cover through which I grease it. Now its even more convenient and safe. Works like a charm.
