Here I am again! I got the old 9N running and mowed about five acres until the lift let down and wouldn't go back up. The fluid level was at the add mark, could it maybe hopefully be air in the system? Thanks for the advice! Jay

Hopefully you blew out the relief valve. Open her up and look-see for swirls, squirts and sprays all of which indicate fluid going places other than the ram cylinder.
The relief valve is under the PTO shaft at the rear of the pump and swirls out the end. Unload the arms and see if they go up. If they go up then turn off the tractor and watch for movement as the arms leak down. You can stick your hand in there to feel just where the leak is coming from or you can lower the fluid level to see.
If the arms won"t go up then you"ll just have to watch but keep your hands out. You can lower the fluid level pretty low to get to see the leak anyway.

I had the same problem. I opened it up, I had no leaks and the pump was working. Somehow the control valve had popped off the control arm forks. Once I put it back on and filled her back up it worked fine.
