I recently invested in a DVD from ebay. One of the films was from Ford Motor Co, about the construction of Levittown, back in the Good Old Days. Very interesting film, lottsa good info, vintage stuff, etc. I highly recommend it. Anyway, saw a Safety Violation that somehow got by the censors. Notice in the pic (captured with many hours & much frustration) that the operator is pulling a concrete sled from the Top Link. Now, I've used the top link, as we all have, it's damn convenient. Hard on the tractor and unsafe, but anyway, that sort of thing does not belong in a film that extolls the virtues of Ford Tractors! I highly recommend getting a copy of the DVD. AMERICAN SUBURBIA is the name, there are several short films on it, very neat! Only one concerning Ford Tractors, the rest are very interesting, even a film touting the virtues of Asbestos! Which has its place, despite the safety freaks. I have been exposed to asbestos on the USS Kitty Hawk, it was common to see the white powder from asbestos lagging on pipes in living areas. Also a couple of short films on housing in general, the seeking for safe housing, etc.

When were you on the Kitty Hawk? I was in 3 MMR in 1978-1979. Made Chief BT on the Hawk

I was actually in VA-52 (Atkron52) an A-6 Outfit outtta Whidbey Island. Was aboard the Hawk in 1971 and 1972 cruises to WestPac. Left after Marcos took over and screwed up Olongapo! Real good times, still remember them! Some bad times, some good times, but that's life! I'd not have discovered the PI, so it was good! I was a PR (parachute rigger), a nice rate! All the zeros were pilots, so the PRs were not molested unless we really f***ed up. All-in-all, it was a worthwhile way to spend 4 years! Whidbey Island was excellent (at that time), if ya didn't like large cities and nightlife. It was classic Huntin'& Fishin' territory. Would have stayed, but had property here in Virginia. Of course, that was before the Californians Californicated Washington! My sister lives in Battle Ground and the developers are going wild there. New houses/subdivisions in hay-fields every week! Oh, well, that's another rant, hehehe! Did you stay for 20 years??

Cargo..... .My long term memory is better than my short term. and I have some memories of Olongopo. Was in Subic as a stop over in spring of “66" on my way to Nam and swift boats. I know you can relate to an old (read young) county boy from Ky. on his first outing w/out parental supervision. ..... ..E. Ray

Here's a neat site. Be prepared to read many good stories and a few bad ones! I have been back to the outskirts of Olongapo, but didn't go to the base. Maybe sometime. All gone now!

Yeah, I did 20 years and 3 weeks. Still p***ed off about the three weeks!
When you were on the Kitty Hawk, I was on the USS Morton DD-948 (saltiest ship in the Navy). Ran plane guard for you many times. Probably had some mutual friends in Olongapo, too.

I went in January '66 and got out Oct. '87 (took nearly a year off 'to find myself', but I couldn't so I went back in.
All my kids live in Washington, Seattle and Tacoma. I probably would have stayed there, but the work and money was better in Texas, so here I am.

Got out of the petrochemical business a while back and opened up an RV park with 66 spaces. Doing okay.
