Gangue,

On the NAA and some later models the grill swings down on some sort of pivots located near where the hood itself attaches to the frame. I cannot find it on the parts diagrams I have. One side looks like it has a bolt and the other a broken pin. What was the original like and what was the part number?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul; I restored my 601 last year. I used 3/8" carriage bolt 3/4" long. I cut two sides of the head off using the square under the head as a guide. These bolts then will side down the formed channel on the bottom inside of the dog legs. I used a push on type lockwasher to retain them in place. I also used fiber washers a bearings on the grill to pivot on when swinging it down.

Thanks, Sam,

It looks like something other than a bolt was origianlly used...a sort of shouldered stud or shouldered captive bolt. I will try your method.

Paul

The grill is held to the dog leg of the hood with a 5/16" bolt on each lower corner and pivots on these bolts. tOTG
