I have been gone a while and wanted to say hello and today I saw a 8n with 2 different spindles. They were identical except the shaft on one was about 1/2 inch longer than the other. Niether of them had a dust cover on the top of the shaft and the longer one had play up and down because the steering arm was mounted flush on the shaft. My question is did they make different length shafts on the spindles and if so which one is right for a 8N.The shorter one looked like a standered dust cover for a 8N wouldn"t go on anyway for lack of room.

Could it be that the bearings are bad and the nut has to be tightened up more on one to make up for the worn bearings?

I found a parts book that has 3 differant Spindles. The first one is for a 1939 9N and the other is for a 9N and 2N the third is for a 8N and a NAA. The 9/2N is longer than the one for the 8/NAA. My guess is one of these that I saw was a replacement and they didn't know there was a differance. Thanks for all the help.

The bearing on one side was bad but I measured the shaft's after they were out of the axle. Thanks

Roughstock,
John Smith's website lists 3 axle extensions for various models. The MPC lists only 2 current spindles: 2N3105&6 for 9N/2N and 8N3105&6 for 8N and NAA. Nothing apparent about different heights. ?????

Thanks for the info. The fact that one of the spindles on the sight you gave me said it fit 8N and NAA tells me that there is some differance and someone may have replaced one of the spindles
with the wrong one. Now I have to figure out which
one is the wrong one. Thanks

Change 52!! After pressure washing the Spindles and hubs I have found the problem. The one that was two long was a Massey Hub and Spindle. Thanks again.
