I power washed the 8N last week and now I have a very stiff steering problem. I've re-greased all fittings but it doesn't help. Could water have got into the steering column? If so how can I get it out?
Thanks

I think I would jack up the front end and check the spindles to see if they turn easily. If they don't one poster on this forum said he used Slick 50 Chassis Lube with very good results. If you've got water in your steering box take out your fill plug and probe around in it to see if you can detect water Those boxes usually leak pretty bad. You can replace the fill plug with a grease fitting and fill it up with John Deere Corn Head Grease. Mine took 2 1/2 tubes. James

Any issue if there's already some 90 weight or something else in there ? How do you know when it's filled with the cornhead grease, it pushes out somewhere ?

On my early 8N it started to come out at the steering wheel. If there is any other oil in the box it will leak out as it is doing now. Just give it a squirt of JD once in a while. I cleaned mine out during a rebuild so I didn't have that problem. James
