We all have N's and love them, which led me to wonder what kind of cars and trucks we drive...How far does our love of Ford go?

I have a Ford ranger, and you?

2000 F350 V10 Extended Cab 4X4 off road (good for pulling out the 48 8N when she ocassionally gets stuck)
70 F100
88 Mustang GT conv.
87 Mustang conv.
65 Mustang GT conv.
I had a 95 Mustang GT conv, but traded it for the F350.
So, I like N tractors, Ford pick-ups, and Mustang convertibles. I guess I would rather spend my money on tractors, pick-ups, and convertibles, than to eat. We all have our hang-ups, don't we?

I drive a 92 F250 7.3 supercab with 258K miles.
Still starts like day one. Has been and still is a good truck. Always had GMC's before. But I tryed the 6.2 in 84 and got burnt.

Wife drives the 99 F350 crewcab 4x4 powerstroke.
She already has 90K miles on it.
We also have a 92 E150 full size van with 200K on the 351 and it is shot. Would like to sell for $2000 obo.

I know, she gets the newer truck, keep her happy so she'll let me buy tractors.

After these two diesels, I'll never go back to gas.

1962 Ford pick-up. I bought it for $225 the day before I left for college 18 years ago. Was the only vehicle I owned until I got married 3 years ago. Now we own a minivan too. I still drive it everyday. All I have done to it was put on a new fuel pump and the aluminum collar under the steering wheel. It broke while I was going down the road and the sterring wheel came right off. I drove it for about a month with a cresent wrench.

My main ride is a '94 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup with a V8 and 4WD. I've been a Chevy man since my first car in high school, a '56 Bel-Air (candy-apple red, baby moon hubcaps, twice pipes, tuck and roll seats, a spotlight, and headliner damage from those pointy high-heel shoes the girls liked to wear in the 60's) (grin).

I wonder how my 8N would look with a blue bowtie for a hood emblem - a "G.M. Tractor". I guess I'll let the credit for building these good machines stay with Ford, though. I had a heckuva time painting the red emblem on fenders and hood, and while doing that job I was glad "Ford" is five letters shorter than "Chevrolet"!

If I really have to get there and quick it's the 90 Honda civic SI bought wrecked $1000 3years ago. If it's a tractor show or auction and there is time then it's old Binford the 61 Unibody longbox pulling the trailer. 312/granny low 4 spd.
The Merkur XR4Ti's, turbo T-bird, 84 Mustang SVO, 58 Skyliner, 55 T-bird, 73 Capri, 63 short box unibody, are just to have, just like the Moto Guzzi, Honda, and BSA bikes. Can't drive em all. Need to get rid of some. Jub, 871, 881 Gold, and 2000.

The short list:

driven regularly

1961 Cadillac convertable - weather permitting - rain ok but no snow.
1964 Chevelle 2 door station wagon (over 400k mi but don’t stand in the way)
1960 Chevy Suburban (2 door) 4x4, tows my 8N and takes me to many mountain tops and many deserts
1949 8N Ford

All have power front disc brakes except the Ford — grin — none came with them.
And all have power steering except the 8N — only the Caddy came with power steering.

And the 8N is the only one that doesn’t need those things!

Made a tool and fixed the pressure regulator on the son's car, so this one sits ready to go. Also joined AAA for the free towing service since I got tired of pushing cars with other cars.

Hope to never own a car I cannot fix myself

Jim,
I have a couple "morsels" in my field, but wouldn't consider 'em too "choice". A 51 Buick and the remains of a Dodge pickup that once had a wooden flatbed, not sure of it's year. These are really rough, I've taken most of the undamaged trim off the buick for safekeeping but most of it has been damaged over the years by gunshots. Front grille and bumper are fairly decent.

If and when we haul a horse trailer, it'll be a Ford F350 OR a Dodge Ram 3500. Considering the price of gas here, I'm in no hurry to haul horses.

Hi Sal: When it comes to trucks and tractors, I'm a Ford man all the way. However, when it comes to cars, I prefer Chevy's. Here's my daily ride:
third party image

Powered by a 406ci engine with a Lunati roller, TFS Trickflow heads, Lingenfelter headers w/Flowmasters, Arizona Speed & Marine intake system, Ford SVO high flow injectors, custom programmed EPROM, various other go-fast bolt-on's, McCleod lightened flywheel and clutch system and a ZF 6-speed tranny. Started out with a 4.11 rear, then dropped to a 3.73, now run a 3.33 so I can keep rear tires on it and drive it on wet pavement. Will turn a 12.5 in the quarter on a hot Summer day in mid-Virginia with the A/C blowing and Bose Gold sound system blaring. Has turned a best of 12.2 when set up a little bit (drag slicks, etc.) and run seriously (my youngest son driving with better reaction times) on a cool day or evening.

A rather dramatic change from a 23hp tractor.....LOL.

Ed,

A man after my own tastes! I have an '85 mediun blue metallic Vette that I drive to work when it is not snowing or raining. The foot wide skis, I mean tires, are no good in the snow!

Other vehicles:
95 Aerostar - wife's ride
93 Escort - for snow or rain
87 Escort - for ???
86 F-250 - for towing
75 Blazer - too lazy to sell it

Danny

2001 Suzuki GSX-R 1000, 9.8 e.t. in the quarter mile, top end limiter set at 186, bone stock. Wanna meet up sometime? Very nice Vette, Ed, I like that body style. Also '97 Chev p/u & '93 Ford Explorer. It's a toss-up which leaks more oil, the "Exploder", or the 8N!

That's one awesome ride, Pete! I don't have the cahones to go that fast without something structural around me.

Take care..... ...Ed

1989 Toyota Xtra-cab SR5, 5-speed, 4X4, will all the toys. Bought new right off the boat with 10 miles on it. Started recently stacking 2500 miles per month on it. Currently has 220,000. When they get stuck, sometimes the Toy pulls the N and sometimes the N pulls my Toy.

Ok...Time for the chanting to begin. LYNCHMOB!

I own a 96 Limited 4WD Toyota 4Runner (for my field engineering & offroad needs - I have to travel to many remote locations in poor conditions for my job)105,000 miles - not a single problem with anything - you can eat off of the engine it is so clean. And the 4WD has NEVER failed to get me out of anything yet.

& a 1994 Mazda Protege. (hey - try this on for size - no repair problems in 7 YEARS besides basic maintainance, PM, CV Joints (PM) & battery. Has 137,500 miles and is still in pristine shape -getting 35 MPG. cannot be beat for a round the town and short trip mega-machine! Unbelievable quality.

Sort of like how things used to be built - you know things like the N-Series tractors. Just my opinion please, no flame wars!!!!! !!!!! It did take a lot of balls to step up and admit this on a Ford forum, but I wanted to be honest.

I am proud of my purchases and their reliability.

Thanks,
Andy

Daily pothole dodging is done with my '89 Ford Festiva.. Kinda red belly colors with the faded silver paint and red oxide primer spots.:-)
My tractor tower was a 91 F-250 4 by 4 which is now very much for sale, having been replaced by an old Central Tractor store truck 89 GMC. I also have somewhere a 43 Ford Military Jeep powered by a very similar to an N motor flathead 4.
Don't tell anyone here but my daily tractor is my 454 International. Love that live hydraulics and power steering!
By the way, watch the YT auction soon for all my extra non- Ford Tractor books, including a coupla by the Welsch dude. Yup, it's spring cleaning time!
