I seem to have a leak where the lift bar arm attaches to the bracket, which is the attached to the body of the rear axel.
The problem I am having is that there is one standard nut and one large castel (locking?) nut. I tighten the first bolt, it was a bit loose and seemed to stop the problem in that area, but it created a bit of bigger problem on the other side of that plate. I cant tighten that side down because of that large castle bolt. I looks like the shat the large bolt is on goues into the axel housing, but im not sure. any suggestions how I can stop this leak, it seems to become worse and worse the more I use the tractor.

thanks

After you fix the leak it might also help to keep a set of stabilizers on your tractor to reduce lift arm sway which, over time, can work things loose inside.

Jonesie..... ...yep, thats the lower link pin leak and the ONLY way to stop it is to remove the rear axle trumped and tighen the inside cotter keyed castelated nut to 150 ft/lbs. We recommend removing the LEFT rear axle and trumpet because you can reach thru yer diffy and tighen the righthand lower link pin at the same time. Its mostly grunt work and a saturday time. Tip: wipe yer trumpet's paper gasket with HOTwater before you try to slip it over the trumpet studs. Tighen trumpet studnuts to 55 ft/lbs.

I really recommend you consider the merits of gittin yer very own personal copy of the I&T FO-4 maintenance manual. $22, (cheap). Readily available from sponsors of this great N-Board. Many agricultural emporiums. Amazon.com, Borders Books, Wal-Mart Books. Check out www.n-news.com great archive of 3-point implement manuals. Why even yer local Ford/New Holland dealer sells'em; isn't that amazing? Even my local John (byte my tongue) Deere parts counter has it for sale. Gittcha one and read itt. It even has pictures for the mechanically challenged..... ....respectfully, Dell
