I have started to repaint the 2N. Getting some of the small parts done as I repair or refurbish.
One coat of primer, two coats of enamel, and a clear coat. I think this afternoon I'll open a cold beer and go out and wax it....

I think I am well on my way.

Look out! Don't be in a big rush to wax it. You know the temperature has to be just right, as well as the humidity. The beer has to be the correct temperature and the sun has to be at the right angle. You don't want to RUSH into something you may regret! :)

Hey - you gotta start somewhere! They say the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time instead of trying to eat it all at once...

Good luck on the project,
Dan

Looks beautiful to me ..... nice to see that original fuel shut off valve still it tack instead of one of those Chinese replacements ... keep it O' natural as you can (just my 2 cents worth)

I want to thank you for saying that. A few guys told me to take that item and pitch it in the trash and buy the $24 replacement. I took it apart and scrubbed it, replaced the screen and the chipped glass bowl and put it back on. It never leaked again. Cost was about $6 and satisfaction was high.

Don't listen to the guys who take the short easy ways. I could spend a fortune replacing the old rust pitted items on Project Rustbucket, but I enjoy the cleaning, and prefer the original equipment. I like the rust pitting under new paint - it shows character and where it has been. This original cyclone pre cleaner is pitted under the paint, but is in solid condition and in great shape after I cleaned it up. I could have bought an aftermarket jar and bail, but wanted the original. You ought to see what me and my skilled Father-in-Law have done with the serious rust through on the hood :) Lots of good close ups on the website that show this as well.

Keep up the good work,
Dan

Thanks Dan, I will...

Been to your photo gallery already. Lots of great pics. I see the precleaner in that first pic and it looks a lot different now! Spent all day in some awful heat scrubbing on my own air cleaner assembly. This tractor musta been strangling on the crud in there. I have to find an old lard tin or something to soak these bigger parts in. The grease is so thick on the outside it's like armor. One thing I'll say for it though, it sure kept the water off the metal. Not much rust to deal with.

I took my air cleaner to the car wash and used high pressure de-greaser, soap, and rinse on the crud inside mine. It took over $3 to shake it loose! The screen mesh was fine, but the air inlet side was almost closed up with greasy dirt...

Glad to see another has caught "The Disease"!

Dan
