reduction gear

I have a 2n tractor a 46 model I believe that has a reduction gear made by hoes ltd. of England.It is located on the right side of the gearbox right below the 3 point raise and lower handle.This tractors start button is located on the dash unlike the base of steering colunm like I have seen on other models.there is no provision in the casting.Anyone familiar with this gear box?thanbkyou ,tom

2NT, sounds like you have a 9N rather than a 2N. Starter button was on dash until serial number 12500 which was early 1940 as some 10000 1939s were built. The reduction gear you speak of, I saw on a 8N this past week end. The owner seemed to think it was also built in England, but did't know for sure. He thought Howard made it...thanks, Kelly.
