I have a Ford Jubilee Tractor with the original 6 volt battery and I would like to know if 14 gauge wire will work for the head lights?

Also, does any one know where on the internet that I can find a copy of the orignal wiring digram.

Thanks.

Bob

Notice that the power for the lights comes through the ignition switch. I think that could explain why so many ignition switches fail. I have a NOS original ignition switch on Old Warrior, and a new wiring harness. I have added a relay that pulls directly from the battery through a fuse link to power the headlights. The relay coil is controlled by the headlight switch, which is fed through the ignition switch so it will only operate with the key on. I will add another relay for the rear work lights, and I'm betting that my NOS ignition switch will last a very long time.

A 14 gauge wire will safely carry 15 amps. To figure max power allowed for the two headlights, 6 volts times 15 amps times 2 headlights equals 180 watts max for your combined headlight bulbs. If your bulbs are less than 90 watts each, it'll work just fine. Be sure to run a ground wire to each bulb, don't count on the internal ground jumper wire.

6V tractor headlight bulbs are typically about 35 watts each. At least the sealed beam ones are.
