I used to post here a lot, but got away from it and haven't been here in a couple of years.

I have two 1952 8N's, have had them for quite a while and completely re-did and rebuilt one of them about 7 years ago. 2 years ago I got a 2001 Kubota with a front loader and live power. That kind of spoiled me, so I haven't used the 8N's much since.

But I've decided I don't really like to brushhog with the Kubota - it works better as a construction tractor, loading, blading, etc. Also, I don't like to change implements - especially the brushhog.

So I've pulled my best 8N out of retirement. I washed it, serviced it, and spent the whole day on it today, mowing. It did a great job and I enjoyed it. I'll just keep the brushhog on it, and that will be my mowing tractor.

Question: Has anyone here found a good steering wheel cover for the 8N? I found that skinny steering wheel rim a little uncomfortable, but I'm thinking it may be hard to fit with a cover because of its unusual size. Thanks.

I've just got those inexpensive lace on covers on both my 8Ns. It takes a little stretching to get it in place but they fit and work just fine for me.

Perhaps as someone sugested a spinner knob, or standard steering wheel cover. Or.. here's an odd Idea. I'm not sure if i saw it on this board or not.. but saw it one some tractor board. A guy use a bycicle TIRE as his wheel cover.. to keep his hands from turning black from his old tractor steering wheel. I'm not sure if he used knobbies for grip.. or flats.. etc.. but it did look neat.

You can get them at many places. I got mine at J. C. Whitney. It was cheap and just the thing. James

Mine has a steering wheel knob which I wouldn't be without. I don't think I ever put my hands on the steering wheel proper.
