This Saturdays sale lists the following:

NH 55 hay rake
NI 403 hay rake
AVCO NI 555 square bailer
JD 8 ft. offset disc
Ford 501 sickle bar mower

1) Are any of these well suited to use with 2N in good condition? 2) What price range would you expect to have to pay for such implements?
3) What implements would be better looked for?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul..... if'n ya wanna save a lotta moola, go to that auction, stand around with your hands in your pockets, freeze yer buns off, make notes of selling prices, and watch. You'll learn a lot. Oh yeah, its always polite to buy a cuppa joe at the concession stand for entrance fee.

I've save a lot of money at auctions by being 2nd highest bidder..... ...Dell

Paul, from my experience, here is my 2 cents worth. A hay rake of any kind should be of no problem, unless it is a pto rake, and then you might need to have a few modifications such as pto adapter etc. I am not familiar with that particular baler, but if it is a pto baler, I would not recommend it with a 9-n. Having said that, years ago, I baled a lot of bales with a 9-n and pto baler, but it is not a good idea. You really need a live PTO to bale. If that J>D> disc is an offset disc, I would forget even thinking about pulling it. A regular 8 foot disc would be an awful lot for that tractor. An offset disc really pulls hard when you have set it to cut the way they are designed to do. Again, years ago, my neighbor had a 6 foot offset disc, and it was more than my 9-n could handle. As to the mower. I have a 501 mower, and they are a nice machine. However, it takes a few extra attachments for a 9-n because of the way the hydraulic works on them. You really need a live hydraulic. At the very least, a position control is really important, and even the infamous Zane-Thang that you see talked about on this board would not be a satisfactory alternative. (yes, I have one). Good luck at the sale!
