Maybe I shouldn't call myself a mechanic yet? I rebuilt a carb and solved an electrical problem on the 2N, rebuilt the right front final drive on my 1520, and fixed a minor leak on the MTA...all in one week. I also find it is wise to wash my hands BEFORE I use the bathroom as well as after.
Even so, I think I have a ways to go.

I am thinkin of taking the hood off the 2N to make things easier to get at and then sending it to be sandblasted since it is too big for my blaster. My concern is that the roof of my shop is made of leaves and there are no walls. Garage is full (and then some, you know what I mean) so I can't move it indoors. I was thinkin I should put a plastic bag over the distributor to keep it dry. What else should I cover up?

Find some of the fittings that they use to make flea market awnings and make your own moveable workshop!

The fittings are made to use 3/4" or 1" conduit for the structure and have eyebolts that screw down to keep the conduit from slipping out. Add a medium weight tarp and a few ground anchors and you have a structure that will keep the rain and sun away for months. You can usually get the four corners and two peaks for around $4-$6 each. Some of the awning suppliers even sell tarp tops with short side and end panels that let you close the sides up completely ($$$).

Depending on your wind conditions one of these will last a lot longer than you think. We used one to shelter a young calf we were nursing back to health and it lasted for months. Now it was only 3-4' off the ground, but it survived several storms with only a couple of bent poles that I easily replaced.

I keep a tarp over my 8n when not in use.
I use bungee cords to hold it on.

That's the way to go. If not then the oily rain runoff will kill the grass for 10 feet around. I think this is the way to go as I am having a heck of a time getting at some things with the metal on and it has to be redone sometime.
