I'm not entirely sure of the 9N's setup but on an 8N I know you can also spark the genny (polorize) by arching the BATT and ARM terminals on the voltage regulator. As a matter of fact I have two wires with a male & female ends tied into the two posts so that whenever I disconnect my battery or have to charge my battery I can just touch the two wires together and polorize the genny. But like I said I'm not real sure of 9N setup so others may comment on whether or not this is something you could do.

I knew it was simple ,but it is easier to ask a stupid question than to buy new parts. Thanks Dell ,for the help ,

Joe
