First, thanks to the guys who helped troubleshoot my girlfriends 9N not charging the battery.

During the investigation about broekn wires, I found that whoever did the 6V to 12V conversion put in a resistor on the white wire coming out of the alternator. Is that supposed to be there?? It is held in by a couple wire splices and does not look like it came with the kit (where ever it was purchased). Would it be safe to take it out?

Robert

Robert..... ....leave the resistor in. You NEED some sort of "isolation" between the P1 terminal and the ignition ON terminal. Otherwize, you can't turn yer engine off. 'cuz the alternator's internal guttz backfeed power to the ignition coil ON terminal. General Motors uses an "idiot-lite" scheme to accomplish this. The resistor acts like the commonly used trailer clearance lite used as a GM idiot lite. I'm glad you asked..... ....Dell, a 12v advocate for the right reasons

That said, I haven't found the right reason for my eazy starting 6v 52 8N and I know how to do it right, the first time. Infact, I know 8-ways to do it and they all work.
