My 2N is sitting proudly on the drive of my suburban Detroit home, on ground that probably hasn't seen a tractor since this one was new. Getting her home was an adventure, but a successful one!

While towing it up to the road and the trailer, I turned on the key and dropped her into 3rd... and she fired right up! Oil pressure read near 50 lbs and she sounded beautiful as the valley filled with dense blue smoke until the plugs fouled out. The rings are obviously impacted. I did the MMO in the cylinders thing... any other suggestions? Sadly, not having a running tractor there means the crushed Farmall B and several implements remain down in the swamp. For now.

The path I took on my way home took me by an intersection south and west of Ann Arbor with a yard filled with old tractors and a set of colorful "train cars" parked next to a pole barn. The back car read "Don's Old Iron Barn". Is this perhaps somebody who is active here?

Anyway, thanks again to all you great gurus who so willingly share your time and experience here.

Followup: Re: 2N is home - and RAN!!! in reply to Pete_Celano, 06-24-2005 04:57:10
Just a quick followup. I pulled the fouled plugs and took the torch to them and brushed off the residue. Squirted some WD40 in the cylinders while the plugs were out and cranked her around some, put the plugs in and she fired right up. The blue smoke quickly subsided.

Oil pressure is great... no knocks, no smoke, starts right up. Turns out the clutch is fine, brakes need a bit of adjusting, but other than that I have a perfectly functional tractor.

Next come seals, gaskets, paint, a radiator repair or replace, (we'll see when I get it off,) and off she heads to her new home in the North.

I live in Ypsilanti and would love to see Don"s Old Iron. I also have a 2n that use for brush hogging, grading and chipping brush on 9 acres I own.
