different carb problem

This is a new one! 1. Had water in carb bowl, fixed that part.
2. Had rust in the carb bowl, it kept plugging the jets. Now I'm a little slow but after the 3rd recleaning I knew something had to change. Took a small wire brush on the drill and cleaned the bowl till I could have ate lunch off it. Now I have no more rust but how to keep it that way?
3. I filled the bowl 1/2 full of motor oil, and took the plumbers torch and got the bowl all nice and hot so the oil would sorta soak in to the metal. I guess the question is will this work? The old 8-n worked long enough to-nite to spread out the 22 yards of gravel on the driveway. Any body else ever have this problem and what worked for you?

Try running some Dry Gas (gas treatment) in it to get rid of the water. Also run some Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank to help lube the upper cylinders (the engine will like it) and to help prevent rusting. Fred

Pj,
Had the same thing in one of mine and expect there is still some rust in the passages. Whatever, it's working.
After careful observation, I discovered that these tractors don't really like rain. I try to keep whichever one is not inside covered up during our annual rain shower. Either don't shut the gas off (not recommended) so the gas in the carb doesn't evaporate and allow condensation in there, or take it out to work or play at least once a week (recommended).
