I was at my local BIG R farm supply store, looking for paint for my horse trailer and came across Van Sickle paints, never seen em before, and found that they make spray, quart and gallon size tractor paint, even have ford gray and light ford gray.

got to reading the directions and said can be brused, rolled or airless sprayed when mixed with thinner.

Any body ever use this brand or had experience wiht it.. am thinking about getting it and doing both horse trailers and the 9n in ford gray..hmmm

Buy the hardner and add according to directions and you will get a good paint job. I was satisfied anyway.

Michael --
I've used that brand. (from the same store you were at in fact) I've used it on some of my tractor and construction equipment -- no complaints -- I use a regular spray gun for application. Covers well and no problems with durablilty that I've seen.
I'm over in Post Falls, south of the river, up on Blossom Mountain so we're nearly neighbors.

Michael, I live Southeast of Priest River a ways. I am doing a Wagner front loader with VS paint and it seems to be covering it real good.

Sorry for my confusion. I thought Big R was a regional chain here in the midwest. I guess they're bigger than I thought.

phred,
I recognize the Big R name. Are you in Illinois? I'm in Pleasant Plains (16 miles west of Springfield). I've used the Van Sickle spray can paints and they don't get very hard and will damage easily. You might have better luck if you use a spray gun and add a hardener.

It"s a synthetic,so it"s gonna fade badly, just don"t have high expectations and you"ll be fine (grin).. I use it for stuff I just don"t want to get any worse..just painted my newly built brush hog with the farmall red..looks way better than rust..it does paint good and is easy to use, just don"t expect the quality of an acrylic enamel or urethane job from it..

I have used Van Sickle paints from my local farm store in both rattle-cans and quart cans. I have used Ford red, JD green and yellow, and Cat yellow. I have no complaints other than the Red seems to be a bit darker than original.
