I was using my Suder FEL on my
9N to pull up OLD metal fence posts. Even with a rear scoop
filled with rocks as the lift went up
the rear wheels went up also.
Finally, the fence post popped loose, and I came down with a bump. A little more weight in the
rear wheels may have helped.

In the past, shops would give you used antifreeze that could be used to fill tires. Now alot of them can recycle the antifreeze.

We still use the calcium cloride as that is the best and IF you keep your tubes in proper good shape you will never have any problems with rusting out and for MOST uses you need the aditional weight PLUS added exterior weight as in cast weights or for a front loader a concrete filled drum on the back end

If you want to fill the tires, use water and anti-freeze. Just had to replace a tube that had water and Calcium Chloride. Rim is orginal and it really rusted bad. Sending it out for rebuild, they don't know if they will be able to save it. Orginal Rims are hard to come by..

The tires were filled with water with calcium chloride in them for added weight hence traction. I just took mine out and didn't fill back. If you had leaks, it would rust the rims out. Now, most people go other routes like water and antifreeze. My MF255 had antifreeze and water. Unless you re doing a lot of tillage like plowing you really don't need it.

The fluid adds weight and provides better traction. Used to use calcium chloride but will rust out rims with time. Cold weather guys will use RV antifreeze to keep water from freezing in there.
