Thought I"d check with this great forum to lead me in the right direction. When my left front wheel is positioned straight ahead the right one is angled out to the right as if making a moderate right turn. The measurement is 58 to 59 inches versus book 48 inches. Also, the steering wheel engages the left wheel instantly while I must turn it almost 2 inches to start to turn the right wheel. Other than that there does not seem to be a whole lot of play anywhere. Thanks in advance for any advice.

its simple, but i think yer real problems are is yer st. box, this is a cheap way to fix it until ya can afford to fix the box, then you'll hafta add the cutout back into it!!!

Ronnie,
on early 9N's it may be possibli to re mesh the steering gears. the procedure is explained in the
FO-4 manual. or and more likley your steering gears are badley worn and need to be replaced

Thanks for the replies Bob and Hooker. I think I"ll try the remesh first as it"s a lot less drastic procedure. Also, this was a sudden problem I believe caused by hitting a tree root/dirt ball while bush-hogging. Maybe I should have stated that in my first post. Again, any comments welcomed. RonnieR.

turn yer st. wheel till the st. arms are positioned exactly the same, doesn't matter what direction the wheels are in at this point and yer arms otta be straight up&down or pretty dang close to it... now figure out which wheel is gonna be the easiest to adjust(sounds like yer left), pop yer tie rod off at the wheel and adjust till its line up staright, now all the time yer doing this yer right on is gonna be way outta wack don't worry about that one yet, once ya get the left wheel where ya want it tighten everything down, get ya a measurement from the centers of the rod ends on the left side, now take the measurement from the left side and compare it to the right side, remove the right side s. rod, cut out a section so that the measurement matches the length, bevel the ends of the cut, weld, grind yer weld smooth, paint it to match, reinstall the st. rod and no one will ever know what ta done,, except for everyone that read this long post
