screwy bushhog wheel

The solid rubber wheel on the back of my bushhog spends as much time going sideways as not when I'm going straight ahead. It's not a big deal in the field but the gravel in my driveway and the numerous ruts in my lawn are unwanted. The hub is considerably narrower than the length of the axle and the bushhog doesn't track perfectly behind the N.

Any suggestions?

Mine was doing the same thing. I welded a couple vertical beeds on the tailwheel shaft to build it up. Then use a grinder to smooth it out.

If the hog is staying offset to one side.. make sure that your pto shaft isn't too long and pushing the mower ver at an angle..

If the bushhog is not pulling straight behind the tractor, make sure you are using those stabilizer bars, the ones that go from underneath the rear axle, not the ones for a drawbar. Best investment I've made next to the limit chains.

Your bushing is worn or missing if it had one,or the pipe is worn that the shaft goes thru..We fixed one by pouring molten lead down around that shaft..worked good for a long time.. The one I have now was doing the same thing,I "bushed" it with a thin piece of sheetmetal wrapped around the shaft, then greased it real good, works great..
