I'm a newbie to the list - thanks for the tips/hints I've already got from browsing the archives ... anyway ...I have a '52 8N. I'm currently using a 50" (?) brush hog to mow my 6 acres - I'm thinking of buying a finish mower to get a cleaner nicer cut - I'm currently looking at a 6yr old 6' Land Pride ? Will the 8N handle that ? Are LandPride's any good ?

I have a 6" LandPride AT2572 that I use behind a tired 1950 8N and it is GREAT. Just don"t let the grass get REAL deep, if it does make two cut one high and one lower. It"s real easy to adjust the height on the LandPride.

I consider myself an expert when it comes to my KING KUTTER KRAP MOWER. As some of you already know from previous post, I"m the owner of the biggest piece of junk. I bought my KK almost five years ago and I have gone through numerous belts, idler springs & one pulley assy. this list is no way complete. The money that I have spent on this piece of junk could have bought and paid for a Woods mower. I will never own anything else that has KK painted or stencilled on it. I have kept this piece of junk greased and serviced. No it has not been abused either. I"m surprised that it doesn"t have "Made in China" on it somewhere.

I can't speak to t he merits of a Land Pride finishing mower, but I've got a 6' Caroni and my N's handle it just fine. I cut about 3 acres every week, all in 3rd gear w/ no trouble whatsoever. Once when I missed a week I just cut the real tall grass in 2nd gear. An N will handle a 6' finishing mower just fine.

I use a 6' king Kutter finish mower with 2 different n's. It handles it ok as long as the grass does not get too long. My understanding is that Land Pride stuff is pretty nice stuff. My buddies 6' land pride finish mower is certainly heavier built than my KK.

From my LITTLE bit of knowledge gained here and in the pasture, I would say 6ft is as big as you should go with the N. I don't know about that particular brand quality, but am satisfied with my 5ft woods finish mower. It takes about an hour for me to mow 2.5 more or less acres.

LandPride is a great product, being made in my hometown and all.
Guys run a 6ft finish mower off the N. Depends on the load how it works. As with any mower, mow often and you get a better and easier job of it. Wait too long to mow and it"s a mess.

Hey - thanks guys - great replies. (ah, TennesseeMan, tell us what you really think about that KK !) Wish I'd known about this list, and all your good advice, when I got a flat rear tire on Memorial w/e - might have saved a lot of heartache. I guess the next question is how much to offer - its Missouri prices & 6 yr old - but I'm thinking about $500 if its in good condition ?
