Question on 8N with Magneto

I have purchased an old 9N with an 8N engine installed on it that had a Fairbanks Morse magneto on it. To make a long story short the guy I bought it from was convinced that the tractor was worth a lot more because of the magneto. I told him the first thing I would do is remove the magneto and put a distributor on it because they were a pain in the rear. BTW, the guy said the tractor would only start by pulling it. Ring any bells with anyone? Can you say magneto impulse? We finally finalized the deal with the seller going to remove the magneto and front cover and keep them and I get it for my price. He still had the old original 9N engine with the distributor on it that goes with the tractor.

Anyway my question is will the cam shaft on the engine have the slot for the front mount distributor? I have not yet picked up the tractor but I am trying to figure out what I need to do to get it running. This will be my fourth N and I may get some flack from the boss (wife) so I want to get it running in case I have to turn it over quickly.

Thanks.

Paul K.

It will have a slot for the magneto and I can"t see anything that shows it"s a different slot.
