My husband got good advice from this forum today but he is still unable to take the parts that have the brake in them off the axle. There is a rod that runs between the body of the tractor and the rim that the brake pedal fastens to. I think he needs to remove that rod to get the rest of the rim off. He sits and stares at it as if he expects it to fall off the tractor. He is not a mechanic and envies you who are. Help!

Been awhile since I messed with that but I remember getting pinched. That rod slips right out of the tractor body and then that end falls toward the ground real suddenly and you can get a nasty pinch if your fingers is up on the brake plate.
Anyway, once that body end is lose a guy can fiddle with it all to get the other end out of that plate.
