2N windshield doesn't do anything

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

It doesn't keep the rain from blowing right into my face and I get bugs in my teeth all the time! I know I don't have to smile all the time but I like to do that so I want the windshield to work.

Maybe if the wiper motor ran faster. Can I convert the wiper motor to 12v? It might be an original vacuum motor.

What's a good source for the wipers and wiper motor parts.

I just bolted one of them "Blue Light" Bug Zappers onto the hood. You'll know when it quits workin' - the blue light gets dark. First thing to check is the extension cord .....

Not that I think you'll take my advice, but I'm sure I know what your problem is. Either you're sitting on the wrong side of the windshield, (Does the fuel tank lid hurt yer butt?) Or you have the windshield installed on the wrong side of the seat, (Do the TPH lift arms hit the windshield when you lift them?) Get back with more details, and We'll try to help. I have been using 4" fencing for mine, It won't keep bugs, wind or birds out, but hey not one deer or bear has come through it yet. Ron

contact Zane ,,, bet he can come up with something that will knock the bugs away before they get to you.....he could call it the "Zane Fling"

You could try adding a few more magnets to the gas tank to ionize the fuel better. Add a dash of grain alcohol or nitro an d you'll have vacume for days. Bet ya even get some thrust from those wipers after that.

As far as the bugs, just do what they do in cajun country - Open yer pie hole wide open. Once you get a mouthful of bugs take a swig of BBQ sauce and a bit of tabasco and 'muck it on down'. YUM YUM!!

Hi John, thanks for your reply.

I might try that nitro thing but it sounds like a waste of perfecty good alcohol so I'll pass on that part.

Bugs for lunch? You do know that not everyone is crazy like a cajun don't you?

But thanks anyway.

The deer flies around here a pretty thick.
I use one of my bee bonnets to keep them off.
No chin straps to worry about. You should be able to get one at any good beekeeping supply house.
The hat should keep rain off ya too.
Or you can use the straw hat to keep the sun off ya.

Aw, you guys are just being silly.

Just do like I do - buy a standard box of wooden toothpics (9N100323) and keep 'em in the toolbox. 69 cents for a box of 250 (Cheap).

I wear a motorcycle helmet with a full face shield. I drlled holes in for ventilation and glued screen material over the holes to keep the bugs out. I carry a squeegie for wipers during rain. It helps protect me from hornets, too. Sometimes I dare to go without the helmet!!! Of course mine is an 8N, so I'm not sure it'll work on the 2N. HTH

That sounds like a fine way to go!

Should I use JB Weld instead of glue? I think some JB Weld would help my tractor a lot.

Oops! Tried it, I can't smile with that dang chin strap. It's creepy.

Thanks anyway.

Do I need to split the tractor and pull the front cover?

You guys kill me. Just get out your wallet and put an additional windshield on and maybe a bug shield too.

You might have hit on a good answer. A bug deflector on the top of the radiator might help.

Or, maybe even that newfangled Le-Bra, with the 2N-sized push-up cups on top to kick the bugs up and over the windshield.

You know, sort of a Miracle Bra for your N.

'course, this'll only work if your N is female.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If the headers aren't cleaned out occasionally, the vaccuum drops off to the point that the nitro injection doesn't quite achieve the right mix anymore. When you REALLY goose it, the vac-actuated windshield adjustment hydraulic valves go all sloppy then, and it all sort of sags.

The only solution, I'm afraid, is to replace the turbocharger, root out the headers, pull and clean the injectors - (make sure you release the pressure first so you don't accidentally inject yourself!) - and then carefully adjust the VACWAHV using the proper Ford-supplied gages. (Don't try it with the Chinese ones... it never works.

Good luk!

HTH, etc.

Thanks for the quick answer. The headers look fine and the VACWAHV seems ok.
I did put in new points and condenser, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap, and rotor but it didn't help any.
You think I should check the compression?
Should I convert to 12v?

I tried 12v conv. Helped with starting, but still have to hunch over and hold my mouth just right to keep the bugs out.

I"m surprised that your 2N can go fast enough for bugs to be a problem.

That 2N is faster than anything in the county except the UPS truck comes down from Hot Skillet every couple weeks.

And that one kid on that ding-dang ATV. Boy, that kid and that noisy blankie-blank burns me up!
