OT, again..

Long shot I know but you guys know every thing and where to find it. I did a Goggle on it.. and btw, the New Goggle/Mozzila browser is durn fast and a free download !!

Anyway, I need a hand held \ portable 12V power supply to connect my new Gamin Road mate 300 GPS when I am not in the car or the house and can connect it to the plug ins. Anyone got any ideas for a 12V DC power supply for this thing that I can carry with me, or hang across my shoulder? Already found I wanted one that feature,, but didn't have it..

I use the battery from my 12v cordless drill for portable power sometimes.

What current capacity do you need.

There are 12v batteries in small packages.. between N and AA size. A few of those paralleled in a battery holder may work... non-rechargeable, and something you could cobble up at radio shack. Also at radio shack.. they have 9.6 and 12v 'RC' nicad/NIMH battery packs.

Camcorder batteries also come to mind, as well as some of the older 'bag phone' cell phone nicad batteries.

Any of these should make a small pack, less than a pound, and about the size of a deck of playing cards or a tad bigger... etc.

I have a couple links saved in my favorites.
I was looking for a battery a while back for my old camcorder.

You can get some fairly small 12v batteries.

Rechargeable gell-cell batteries such as used in gate openers/game feeders will run it for hours and hours and last a long time.
