I took some pics. of my 8N, Had them developed on a CD, and loaded them on my computer so I could e-mail or post. But they are so BIG!
(1818x1228x16m)1.5-2 meg. I tried e-mailing one and it took 30min to send. That's too big to e-mail or post. How do you change the size? What's a good size to change it to? Does it take special software? I use ACDSee as a viewer. I'm using Win98 on a laptop.

A huge space-saver is to avoid landscape to reduce file size. I want to send or post a pic then I cut & trim tight to the object. I mean, how much sky or gravel you need to share in a snapshot of your N? You don"t need any work bench or floor in a pic of your parts & pieces.
The other thing is "resolution." When you "resize" then click "resolution" or "res" and set no more than 96 pixels/in. You"ll probably be fine with 72 pixels/in. You camera gives you 200 or maybe more so you can cut the file size a ton with the resolution change. Know that a computer screen resolution is no more then 96 so any more resolution is a total, absolute waste of space and time. Save the high-res file to send to your high-res printer but make and save a new edited and lower-res file for email and web. Some photo editors and maybe most all uploaders have a one-click option to resize for email and the web so look for that. They reduce the size to fit the screen and adjust the resolution automagically.
Learn to do it all right and you can have nice, snapshots to load or email with file sizes from 35k to 125k.
First, trim and cut and then resize. When you resize, you want to keep the "aspect ratio the same" so you only pick only one dimension and the software figures the other dimension and the photo is not distorted. In the same screen, make the resolution change and after all that, "save as" to a folder on your hard disk. Save as a "file type" .jpg or such. I use a descriptive file name with "web" or "email" on the end so I can quickly know the pic is set up to share. You can do all of that in about 60-seconds. 120 tops. Except the first time. Might take you 30-minutes the first time.

ACDSee should have an option to resize and change the format.
I use a free program called IrfanView.
It is a very powerful image editor, and free.

Basically you want to change it to a jpg format.
And resize it down to where the file size is less than 150k.
I use 320x240 cause that is the size my camera uses.
Seems to be a good size to use.

I use Picasa2 (yet another free download from Google). It is *GREAT*. It will search your hard drive for pictures and organize them for you with thumbnails. If you download new pictures from your camera, Picasa2 finds them *immediately* and adds them to your collection.

You can pick a set of shots, and have Picasa2 make a website for you, automatically resizing the pictures and making thumbnails, or you can make a "Gift CD" (burns the pictures with a slideshow viewer to CD - resizing if you wish).

The little website of my tractor pictures took about 30 seconds to make.

I"ve had two cameras and both came with photo editing software that will trim and resize.

I finally bought a full-feature editor but the editor to resize and trim should be included with the camera.
