Hi All,I have not needed to seek troubleshooting advice in a while but now I do. The problem is on my newer Ford 2310 but I know you all are multitalented when it comes to troubleshooting all kinds of tractors. This past weekend I wanted to use my Ford 2310 diesel (1983 model) and the battery was dead as doornail. I used it for about 3 hours a week ago and no problems (didn’t leave the switch or lights on either). I took the battery out and had it checked and recharged and it checked out good. I put it back in and used the tractor this afternoon and it ran great. I took my voltmeter and checked the alternator output at the battery terminals and it was charging about 14 to 15 volts so I assume it is good. What I did find is when I shut the engine off and turned the key switch off the idiot lights for the oil and alternator were burning dimly, even with the key out of the switch. When I turn the switch on, the idiot lights seem to burn normally but they keep burning dimly with the switch off. I assume this is why my battery was drained down. I disconnected the negative battery terminal until I can figure out what the problem is. I would appreciate any experienced advice on this problem. Is it the switch or the voltage regulator, or something else? Thanks in advance. Rick H. Ga.
