It has been several years (20 or more) since I bought new brush hog blades for my 5 ft. rotary mower. I got a slight shock yesterday when I bought new ones at the local TSC, $30 each. Is this a good price for mower blades or am I a tight-wad.

Also, I narrowed down the electrical problem on my Ford 2310 to the voltage regulator. The new one should be in today (NH price $71; local auto parts store $41).

Steel is high. Blades are hardened, more $$$$. $30 does sound kinda high but I'd still expect to pay nearly that.

I got a great deal on some new blades at flailmasters.com. They sell all sorts of blades and I bought the new banana shaped ones and have been very pleased with them on my bushhog. They actually cut almost as well as my finish mower.

Thanks for the flailmasters tip. I am in the market for a new set of blades for my old Dunham 5 footer. Dunham has been out of business for 25-30 years and my local ag dealer cannot match them up.

I tried flailmasters.com but my browser could not find them. Is the URL right?

Thanks in advance.

Dean

It certainly is not right, my fingers sometimes move faster than my brain. it should be flailmaster.com, no s on the flailmaster like I did before. They got lots of stuff at a decent price. Catalog was free. Obviously with a name like that, most of it covers flail mowers, but they have blades for sickle mowers and some finish mowers too.

Darn Rick - how many tractors you got? I know you have a cherry 8N and a beautifully restored NAA as well...

Unless it was a finish mower - I would just file them a bit and keep on mowing - but then again, I am a tight wad also.

Hi Dan,

I've got three Ford tractors, a 49 8N (owned for 28 years), 53 Jubilee (owned for one year) and an 1983 model 2310 (owned for three years) . I don't need but one.

However, I like my tractors and I enjoy using them and tinkering with them.

Thanks,

Rick
