Just under the seat on the right side top of the tranny is a part/thing that sticks up about an inch with a spring under it. Also on the side is a part that looks like it should have some sort of rod going through it to the part with the spring. So what is it and what does it do and where should it be hooked to?? Thanks

I have some control rods out hollow studs in the lift cover. Those two rods control a valve that diverts the hydraulics out a hollow stud in the round inspection plate.

OLD..... ....sounds like yer describing a push-pull lever operated ball-valve scheme in your N's hydraulic pressure stand-pipe that "blocks" the hydraulic power from going to the 3-point lift cylinder and "re-routing/forcing" it out the hydraulic pump baseplate corner test port for remote hydraulic cylinder operation.

Sometimes the hydraulic ball-valve re-routes the pressure out to a hydraulic coupler mounted thru one of the butt-buckett coverplate bolts; just as the ball-valve lever push-pull operating rod is mounted thru a coverplate bolthole..... ....Dell

Without a picture, hard to guess, but it just might be one of those things would let you set the brake on that side. I have them on my NAA but with the rod. There should be a toothed plate and then a cam looking thing with teeth in it and when you push the brake pedal down you can engage it and hold the tractor in place. Well, providing you got good brakes it will hold.
