i did this when i lost oil pressure pull the oil fill cap and stuff a rag in the tube (not to far down cause you have to pull it back out ) use your compressor and stick the nozzle down the dipstick hole blow air in while cranking engine WITH THE KEY OFF you should get oil pressure hth

As a follow up to Ohboy..

If the pickup tube is solid..My next question would be? what are you using for oil. if your engine has 18 psi oil cold at throttle.. it is still usefull.. but worn. If you are using 10w30 or 30w oil.. try 15w40, 20w50, or 40w.. I think I'd go for 20w50 myself.. etc.

You may have simply got it warm enough to open the tolerances to the point where you had virtually 0 OP. Now.. after the oil change, pull th big hex headed plug on the front of the engine.. there will be a plunger with a flat spot on it and a spring.. make sure the spring is not broke, and now take some heavy oil.. like gear oil.. thicke rthe better.. like 140w.. squirt it in the hole untill it 'fills' slap that plug in and get that engine cranking over asap.. that just primed the oil pump.. etc.

report back what you find.

bought a new plunger and spring-old spring was about one coil shorter than the new one-figured that if i was going to take it out that no more expensive than they were it would be wise to do it.primed her up with lower unit oil-had a he!! of a time reaching in there and getting it started-figured all of my prime had ran out-that and tractor hadn't been started in about a year-it started and had pressure.Thanks-R.L.

First thing I would do is drain the oil and put your finger up inside the pan and see if the oil pickup tube is intact. Is it solid or does it have some wiggle? If you can move it around, it is probably not sealing at the pump so your oil pump will be sucking air not oil.

If thats the problem you will have to drop the oil pan to fix it.
