Ric..... ....WHY? Why change back to 6-volts? There are 12v gennys that look exactly like 6-volt gennys. Not all 12v conversions use the common 12v alternator with built-in voltage regulator. There is NOTHING WRONG with a well done 12v conversion. Since ALL N-Tractors came from the factory with NO HEADLITES, they were dealer installed, (for extra profit) or owner installed. Iff'n you need/want headlites, 12v headlites are readily available..... ...respectfully, Dell, a 12v advocate for the right reason

That said, I haven't found the right reason for my eazy starting 6-volt 52 8N, and I know how to do it right the first time. Infact, I know 8-ways to do it and they all work.

It's hard to say. The previous owner may have had the generator rewired for 12 v. He may have put 12 loghts on it too. Nothing in the distributor matters 12v or 6v. He may have put 12v coil on it. You need to determine these things. James
