Ordered and got the lower rear rope seal and the neoprene front crank seal..Any special inmstructions I need to pass on to the "Mechanic"?
This lower rope is white..Most times I think I see it referred to as red..Is this the wrong one??Thanks

Tom,
I know there are different views on seals, so I distilled the best I've read and got.... Soak in oil for a couple hours or over night. Mash it in real good rolling pin style, making sure it's even. Do NOT trim.
HTH
Russ

Just checking. I think the parts man went to sleep while pulling my order. Several other parts were wrong(for 8N and mine is a 2N) so sure don't want to get inside and not have the right seal. I want this to be a one shot, one weekend deal..

Hi Tom,

When I rebuilt my 8N engine, I followed the instructions in the FO-4 manual on installing the crank seals and I have no leaks at all after 5 years. HTH. Rick

Hey Rick, did you cut any off the rope to make them fit?

How many hours you put on them in 5-years?
