Off topic but we all are coping with it. High Gas prices, the durn talking heads on TV all blame it on something or the other,, I blame the oil companies. They pay what ever price, try to find THAT price, and immediately raise our price before they even get it to the refinery… Jeeze, ought to be a law.

Now, what I really wanted to tell you was, recently the wife said enough is enough and we did a major clean out of barn/shed thingie. It is pretty large, used to be an 8 horse barn. Now with concrete floor, new large windows that open and allow light and breeze in, new paint and trim outside all around. Anyway. After we got the majority of junk and stuff put away, I had one new gas weed eater, one older gas weed eater, multi tool gadgets, a leaf blower, wife’s electric weed eater, and couple of other items that I had just been laying around on the floor. So, to better organize them and clean up floor I took two equal pieces of chain and hooked them over exposed rafters. Then used some heavy wire and bent me some S look looking things that will hook into the links. The hangie down part of that wire, also has a larger opening S hook bent into it. So, now I put all of that stuff on the S hooks horizontally , it is off the floor, in sight, and easy to get to. The wife’s stuff and often used stuff is lower, and the other is higher up on the links.

Got all the gas cans, oil, small tools, ect, under them in plain view, and I promise to always rehang what ever I use when I am finished.

Next project is to build a work bench/cutoff saw bench. Going to hit the cabinet shops in the area and see if I can pick up old removed cabinets and fit them along one wall and around corner to mate up with one fine workbench/cabinet I have there already. Do repair as needed to make the all the same height, mouse and wasp proof them and make the doors work.

Then I will have a place to put the new cutoff saw! Once I get that worked out, I will post a picture for ya. It will also open up some floor space for working on what ever, mowers, yard tractors and the like. Already working on an exit ramp out that door on the west end that is three steps now. Then I can drive straight through and not have to back out. Well, I don’t have a problem backing out, but you know women, they can’t back up a tractor and trailer for nothing.

Sounds like you have a great shop in the making! Twenty some years ago, the wife & I restored an old house; I saved the kitchen cabinets & put them in the new garage I built. Worked fine. When we moved into the current house, I spent a few months looking in the classifieds & going to remodeling shops looking for old cabinets; no luck! The only ones I found were junk at outrageous prices. So, I sucked it up & went to one of the big-box stores; I was surprised at how reasonable the prices were for just plain old cabinets. I got a sink base for the work bench, (made my own top) a couple freestanding ones & 3 wall units all for under $300. Now, this is not stuff I'd put in my kitchen, but they are great for a garage.
