wonderin' about something

I have a 1929 Model A that I was selling and a guy wants to trade me a 1949 8N that looks o.k. runs o.k. needs paint, plus an ATV plus some cash.

I don't have a farm so I don't need an 8N. He says its worth $3000 Cdn. funds. I don't know if it is or not. How much does a completely restored, A1 8N go for these days? How much does a middle of the road 8N go for?

Something tells me to pass on this deal, but I could use the tractor to plow snow I guess, and I really don't want this Model A anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you brought that car down here to the US you could get a lot more than the trade. Of course you said some cash, I hope its a pretty good amount. That car is worth a lot. Be careful you might get stung on that trade.---Bill

you know, its been advertised in the States for a month. Some Model A guys (at least the ones I"ve talked to) only offer in the 4000-5000 range for it, because it is not "show quality"

I might just tear it apart and sell it piece by piece on Ebay.I don't have a means to get it to the States anyway (no trailer to haul it) and no time to drive it down

Ryan - what you have there is a very nice car. The 8N if "fully restored" may indeed be worth $3000 but lets consider. If we're talking a trailer queen it dosen't sound like you want the tractor to just take up space - you already have an old Ford worth much more doing that. You mentioned using it to plow snow. You can buy a very nice N for snow plowing for less than $3000. Also its been my experiance that when I include a trade in the deal I usually get the short end of that stick so beware.

Looks like a great Model A. I would hold out for a better deal but if you"re going to let it go I"m just across the lake.

that's right, I am just going to let it go - come in reply to Grove, 08-22-2005 07:14:47

Bring a truck/trailer and either $6200U.S. or a fun little tractor and the cash difference.

email me and I have more photos and we can go from there. Its gotta go, nice car or not, I just don't like it and I won't use it. Shouldn't have put the $ into it but oh well you live and learn. A little tractor I can use more than the A

Man oh man Ryan . Bring that jewel to Pa .of the USA . You could probably get around 13,000.00 for it here. I'm drooling also over it . They say when a man has too much he's bored with it after awhile . I like the n tractors but that deal isn't quite right . N's sell for anywhere from 1,000.00 to 3,000.00 depending on condition . Go figure .As said ; bring it to Pa. Ken

Hi Ryan,

Nice car! Make sure the guy brings a wheel barrow full of cash. It's easy to get in the mindset that what you want to get rid of isn't worth much, but thats got to be worth three tractors plus an atv.

I'm an honest seller - its just a fun driver in reply to 9NKen, 08-21-2005 22:46:24
its not for show, it doesn"t look all that great but runs like a champ. It was a car and now its a truck, so most Model A guys won"t touch it with a 10 foot pole. I don"t want to tear it apart and sell it piece by piece but its coming to that. I am comfortable selling it for $6200-6300 U.S. funds or taking partial trade on a small neat little tractor I can use to push snow around. Thanks! ps.I have more pictures and complete details if you want to know more about the A - I have all the receipts and paperwork

Yep, you are right. Having a 1931 Model A and being around classic cars for years these "converts" are not worth nearly as much as original. However, it"s worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

that's why its only $6300...... in reply to StahlMaster, 08-22-2005 17:05:49

....and not $15000 or more.

And, as time goes on, it will be 6250,6200,6150 and so on and so on....

You know what's nice about it though, you can fly down any road you want, you can park it anywhere you want, you don't worry about someone with a zipper coming into contact with a $5000 paint job, you can drive it through the pouring rain and this winter, if its still here I'll drive it through the snow too!
