Under a real heavy load my 8n pump will knock a bit too. I had everything down for a rebuild a couple? years ago and pump looked fine.. rebuilt top cover.. etc and put back together. I imagine it will still be knocking when I'm gone..

Mine knocked pretty loud when I used the universal Ford hydraulic oil (134?). It quieted down quite a bit when I changed to the 90 wt hydraulic oil. Lift worked better too. HTH. Rick

I saw a thread on this and I think it was Zane (our hydraulics expert) that gave the reason for it and said not to worry about it. Mine does it too under heavy load and Zane's word is good enough for me.

I have the same problem with my "49 8N and the experts here told me that was normal, and that it should run like that for years. I don"t worry about it anymore. Mine only happens when I am using a finish or bush hog and I rase the implement two or more feet off the ground. Castor.
