Well, I have had my Jubilee project tractor about a year now since I completed a major refurbishing/restoration on it. I used it a lot this week mowing about 10 acres of heavy pasture grass. It performed superbly. The new blades on my 20 year old 5' KK brush mower cut much better also.

I can tell there is a slight HP difference between the Jub and the 8N. The live hydraulics on the Jubilee are really nice also.

For now, the 49 8N just sits in the barn being admired for all the work it has done over the last 28 years. I’ll be using it occasionally but less often I guess. She has earned her keep.

My error, I was referring to the live PTO. It was hydraulically driven.

Rick, I can appreciate your comments. I picked up my NAA last spring (a year ago) and love it. As you say, the extra HP and the live hydraulics are great and I use the NAA for most of the chores. I keep the 49 N hooked to the 6' finish mower and for now it's function is "lawn mower". The low profile fits under the tree limbs better than the NAA. The only drawback with the NAA is that it seems to suck the fuel down worse than the N ever did. Steve NAA III443 & 8N I69302

Not many Jubulees had live hydraulics. Did you have to overhaul this optional unit also? You are lucky to have it. I only had one unit that worked, and it was the first ford to come out with this optional equipment.

Hi Jimmy,

As SouNdguy said, the Jubilee and NAA were the first Ford tractors to have the "live hydraulics/3point lift". There was an optional "live PTO" that was available on some of the Jub's and NAA's. I believe the live PTO option was hydraulically operated and seem to be somewhat rare.

Thanks for the comments.

Rick

Jimmy.. ALL jubilee and ( naa ) and hundreed series and up had live hyds via an engine mounted pump, straight from the factory.

It was the 9n, 2n, and 8n that did not have live hyds, due to their pto tied belly pump.

That sure is good to hear, Rustbucket is about to assume those same dutires and is replacing my 52 8N workhorse. I now have the exact same setup that you have - a good running NAA that we both refirbished and a good looking 8N that looks great and gets to rest.

Life is good when you have a ggod running antique tractor!
