I hope it's ok to ask this, but I don't recognize the terms you're using from the manuals I've read so far. May I ask what an orc and a zert are? (If this is too stupid a question, just chalk it up to my novice status and disregard it.)

FarmerDawn..... ..ORC is an OverRunning Coupler. It is necessary safety device on the tractors splined PTO (Power Take OFF) that is used when "brushhoggin". It is usually held-on to the PTO shaft by a spring roll-pin hidden underneath the grease fittings (zerks).

The ORC is a 1-way ratchet device that allow PTO to turn the heavy hog blades but PREVENTS the centrifical force of the blades from back-driving yer tractor thru the PTO shaft when you clutch to slowdown to go around the barn corner, fencepost, powerpole, creekbank, irrigation ditch, wifes car (don't ask). ($60, cheap)..... ..Dell

Oh man! Talk about important information! Thanks for providing it. I won't ask about the car thing (barely), but I sure am glad I asked about orcs and zerks.

Some people spell it "ZERK." It is a grease fitting.

If it is not the quick disconnect type (which it sounds like it is not) you remove the two grease zerts and press the roll pin out.

BTW - for safety reasons, you should not leave the grease zerts in when using as they stick out and grab things as they are spinning. Pipe plugs should be installed after you grease and before actual use.

Good luck,
Dan

To get mine off, I remove the zerk & drive out the pin w/ a punch. PB Blaster helps. PBR's really help..... ....
