I just had a new repo gas tank delivered. It does not have a hole in the "bubble" at the top. Suggestions?

Just use a vented cap. Several years ago when I refurbished my tank I welded the vent closed. Philip.

Like an earlier post said - its small. After repainting my gas tank this summer I had to find the hole and re-open it as the paint had covered it. You might want to make sure they didn't do the same when they painted your tank.

If you never had the Ford safety gas cap installed with the long plastic neck and 4 vent holes in the cap and the yellow warning decal for under the hood which has been available since 1986 you can take your old cap, the model and hand stamped serial# on the left side of the block (not a raised casting#) to your local New Holland dealer for a free exchange and tell them to get reimbursed by refering to service bulletin# 1993/10-T2, do not fill the tank above the bottom of the plastic neck.

Why not take the unsafe new tank back and ask for what you paid for?

You have to look real close to see that hole. It is tiny.

Popster..... ...no vent in dome? Me? I'd just drill one like the old one ...except... I'd drill it in line with the trapdoor so I could see it. Then I'd do a "pressure test" by blowing on the new dome hole. Iff'n it don't blow, then I'd use a longer drill-bitt and continue the angle and ventalate the tank..... ..Dell

Just wondering if there's any good reason not to just put a small hole in the gas cap...TIA..Ron

Just in case; don't drill on it when there is gas or fumes in there!
