I just replaced the starter switch on my 2N and got nothing when I pressed the safety switch. I took the switch out and it works, so I felt starter switch shaft and it seems like I am not getting enough travel out of it to depress the switch enough to engage it. Looking for suggestions on how to repair or replace the shaft. Also where to get a replacement shaft. Thanks.

I had the same problem. The issue is with the gasket that goes between the switch and the steering column is too thick. If you have two gaskets, remove one and try it. If you only have one gasket, try just using RTV to seal it. You may then find that the switch will never turn OFF, causing you to have to put a shim back in, but thinner than the first one. Took me a little bit of playing around to get it right, but that's all it was.

Jiggle the gear shift... the gear shift pattern may be worn.. and not letting the switch travel enough.. in other words.. it is interlocking as if it was in gear possibly.
