I was fortunate enough to get Grandpa's 9n, but it hasn't run for about 5 years. I changed the gas out, new battery and checked out electrical system as all the postings and diagrams have instructed. I changed the points gapped at .015", condensor, rotor, dist. cap, plugs etc. The condensor isn't grounding out, the pig tail on the coil is stretched out. Now, I have power at the coil spring, but nothing beyond that. My guess is I need to pull the distributor again and check to see the points haven't slipped and also check the copper band where it connects to the condersor as mentioned in earlier. Where do you lube those points? Could this be a coil problem even though it lights up the tester? Anything else I should check for? Its getting to that frustrating part. Thanx.

If you have power at the spring.. but not to the points.. look at that connection.. something must be open for you to have a power reading. if points were slipped closed.. it would be grounded.

Also.. lube the leading edge of the cam rubbing block.. just a dab..

Roscoe: It's a good idea to check the Front mount distributor both ways -- to ground (not) -- and for continuity with the points closed. if both are OK and points are gapped correctly, there's not much else to go wrong. Saves having to do the 2 bolt finagle all over again.

I am betting it is the copper conductor strip. You lube the points by applying a very little amount of grease on the cam the points block rides on. Do not put too much - a little goes a long way here.

Good luck,
Dan
