I AM TRYING TO SET THE ALIGHNMENT ON MY 52 8N. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT THE WHEELS POINT STRAIGHT, BUT WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAT TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT THE SPINDLE STOPS HIT THE LOWER PART OF THE AXLE. DO BOTH SPINDLES HAVE TO HIT THE STOPS AT THE SAME TIME. LEFT OR RIGHT ? HAS ANYONE DONE A ALIGHNMENT ? THANKS

The spindle stops are designed to prevent either wheel turning too far either way. One or the other may make contact before the other but it doesent matter as it still is preventing a wheel turning too far.

The only alignment you can make is to set the toe end which is about 1/4" closer between the front wheels at the inside front of the tires.

Steering gear lash is adjusted by loosening the jam nuts on the individual steering pitman shafts and tightening the mesh of the gears with the set screw and then re tightneing the jam nuts. Adjust the pitman shaft that is against the ball nut gear on the sector shaft first and then the other one.

Mike..... ....the 1949-52 8N's steering gearbox gearmesh adjust jam-nut is 7/16-20, which would normally require a 11/16 wrench..... ...Dell
