When I got my 8N and started sanding got down to a yellow paint. Looks like the yellow used by PA DOT workers equipment. Looks like it came from factory this way. Anybody every have one like this? Was it used by road crews? Thanks

Thanks for replies everybody. I did find red paint under the yellow. The rear tires were loaded and the front engine pulley had one of those adapters for a PTO shaft to fit in so maybe it had a front loader or power broom. The engine doesn't have the serial numbers so must be a replacement. Figured it must have been used for road or some industrial use. Thanks for the info.

My 51, Ol Yellar was bought from a JD dealer that got it in trade from a county road dept. It came with a Wagner WM3 loader with weights, loaded rear tires, a dearborn brush hog and a back blade. Everything was yellow. I have read that Ford would send some out painted yellow to govt agencies, prisons, road depts, etc. She is about to go to Gray and Red this winter.

Yes, many public municipalities bought N "s for highway use and painted them safety yellow. They did not come from the factory like that I"m sure. Yellow painted tractors/equipment would"ve been a dealer function, either painted by them or outsourced down the road to a bump/paint shop. hth

I wonder if the airport tugs were painted yellow.

There is an old airport tug in our area that is yellow. It also has a two speed rear differential.
