53 NAA. Is there anyway to make more power out of this engine without doing a rebuild.

Rebuild the carb, that's easy and cheap. Clean up the oil bath air filter and the steel mesh inside it. Make sure the air delivery tube is clean and the connecting hoses are in good shape. Change the plugs to AL437's and replace the wires, cap and rotor. If you want to get serious, convert to 12v and go with solid state ignition and a 12v coil, if not do a good tune up with all new parts from CNH. Now it'll be running as good as you can get without going further. Do the dreaded compression check to see where the engine is in its life cycle before going further.

Yes, trade it for a more powerful tractor.

If it is running well and the engine is not extremely tired, what you have is all you will have. We're not talking a race car here where you hop it up, its a tractor, a 134 cubic inch four cylinder.

If the engine is tired, overhaul it if that is what it needs. Just make sure it is properly tuned up, new points, plugs wires, condensor, cap, rotor and timing set, and that all fuel screens and the carb are OK. Not much more you can do to it.
