I know the feeling, takes awhile to get the heart rate down. I was raised about 10 miles from here and they don't have copperheads and water mocassins over there. We have dozens each summer, mostly about a foot long, but we have had a few BIG ones. You certainly don't wander around in the dark outside barefoot unless you have a flashlight.

I haven't been surprised like that yet by one of the poisonous snakes, but I did find a 5' bull snake above me on the door frame one time. Nothing quite like turning around and coming eye-to-eye with one!

Ahhhhh, quiet, relaxing, peaceful life in the country...gotta go, time again to spray for bugs and spiders and put out the rat/mouse poison!

I hate snakes. If that happened to me I would have to sell the tractor. Fortunately we don't have any poisonous snakes up here. Just the small non-poisonous ones that can give you a heart attack.

Mike,

I'm up in Maine. Not much for poisonous snakes this far North. They like to stay down in the warm climates, which is fine with me.

Hence the Minnesota state motto:
"It keeps the riff/raff out"

I think it refers to the cold, but it may be the taxes.

One thing you'll never hear on the TV: "Killer bees invade Minnesota".

Cotton picking snakes!!! Good story bout the copperhead.

Remember me telling bout my frieds corvet that had been stored and all the snake skins in it. Well, he came with trailer to haul it back to Minnesotia, and that big ole chicken, after he had seen all the skins under hood and laughted at me for the one on the floor, he would not get inside the car!! Sent his wife in to take brake off, put in neutral etc.. Big coward!! :-)

BTW, we did get it winched up onto his new custom trailer now problem. But had a heck of time booming it down as he had borrowed some off the wall crank thingie to do that.. Hope he got home ok with it.

I am with you Mike,, IF I know the durn thing is there, I will leave it alone.. But,, Jeeze!!! DO NOT drop down onto my work area!!! gives me the willies just to think about it. Had one in barn/shop not too long ago. Up on the raffers above a storage metal shelf.. that SOB scared the *()(## out of me!!!

He was a big one,, wife found his skin inside her garden room door one day.. That was fun!!! Must have been just over 6 feet long!! For weeks she would open the door, step back, and look inside, then go in!!

Really do like having them around, have not had a mouse in the barn in years, but,,,,, at least warn me!!!
