The Squeaky Wheel gets the grease

I used my Jubilee to do some brush hogging yesterday and noticed a slight squeaking noise in the left rear wheel. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the wheel was a little loose but the big axle nut was tight. I got out the big 2” socket and 5’ cheater bar and cranked down on the nut a little more. It seems that the nut was bottomed out on the axle. I removed the rear wheel and axle hub and it looks like I am going to need a new hub. The axle splines look OK. You can actually see the ware on the hub splines.

I know this is somewhat of a common problem on the 8Ns and NAA’s. I thought about doing the shimming trick but since I am somewhat of a perfectionist (which has caused me a lot grief over the years) I think I will shell out the bucks for a new hub.

Can anyone suggest a good supplier for a quality aftermarket hub? Since the Jubilee is real good condition I want to keep her up to par. Thanks.

Rick
