Was pulling a trailer to the burn pile when Sadie - '48 front mount' hit a dip and then the front end jumped off the ground a foot or two and now she is stuck in third gear. I have the FO but have never peered into the innards of the tranny. Any helpful hints on how to correct this problem (hopefully from the top/outside) would be gratefully appreciated. As an aside, DELL if you read this I got out of the NAVY at Whidbey Island and lived for a time in Longview. Also, I have installed an electronic ignition on Sadie and it is the best money spent on her.

I'd start by blocking the front wheels, and then using jack stands to support he rears to make for easier spinning of the rear wheels.

Remove tranny top cover.. watch for flying ball and spring... look for the third gear position.. and see what is worn.. that is.. why the shifter won't slide the fork out of third.
