Help! I am somewhat of a novice at this. I have a 9N with a front mounted distributor which I attempted to tune up. I replaced the coil, distribuotr cap, points, and condensor. The problem is, I have no spark from the distributor. It appears the points are set properly, there is power through the coil, but nothing through the distributor. I've used a circuit test and the hold the spark plug wire away from the head/spark plug method, but still no spark. Is there something else I can do? Another method to test?

What did you set the points at?? They should be set at .15 also its easy to short out the conderser wire when putting them in and that could be your problem. Or the points also may have slipped, which is also common

Couple of things you can do; pull the distributor & re-check the point gap at .015 on all 4 lobes. Points do slip. Then do a continuity check inside the distributor to make sure you have not grounded anything (like the condenser wire) to the housing. Pull the pigtail on the bottom of the coil to stretch it out a bit for better contact. Check the cap out & make sure it's not cracked or has carbon tracking on it & make sure to replace the rotor. I assume you have current to the coil.

Ron..... ...you replaced the squarecan ignition coil. Did you remember to gently stretch the springy-thingy underneath the coil?

As for yer ignition points, the gap is 0.015" and is best set on the kitchen table. You doubt? Ittza 2-bolt 15-min job to remove yer frontmount distributor. Just unsnapt the 4-nipple capp and letter dangle. Unbail the squarecan ignition coil. and walk into the kitchen. Check yer points gap, they are known to slip. Also check for shorted terminal or cracked/open copper-leaf conductor to the points. Replacement is a reversal of the removal ...except... gently finger start the 2-bolts and then rotate yer rotor until the OFF-SETT TANG drops into the camshaft slot, vola' its timed already. Now tighten yer 2-bolts and re-snap everything. Simple, eh?..... ...Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
