Hey folks! I've got a couple questions concerning my 8N. It's a 1947 that I recently repainted and put back in the field. I am primarily going to mow/bushog with it on my 20ac, but I'm sure I'll find other jobs as well.

I currently have the original rims on her, but I noticed when repainting that one rim is getting extremely thin and will not stand to have the tires/tubes replaced.

The tires still have some life in them, but I'd like to replace them as funds become available. I've read the various threads about tires and understand that the "factory" size is now listed as a 12.4x28 tire, right?

Well, since I'll be mainly mowing with my 8N, I'm thinking about getting some wider tires/rims to be easier on the grass. Has anyone checked out Tucker Tire on Ebay? >Link
They>Link seem to have good prices, but I was wondering if any of you die-hards had any experience with them. That's about half the price I've been getting around here at local shops.

Also, is there an alternative to replace the skinny 3-rib front tires to be easier on the grass as well? Maybe an automotive rim that would match up to put some cheap car tires on?

Thanks in advance!

Justin in Indiana

I have heard good things about both Tucker and Miller Tire companies. If you have the original 19" rims, you can put motorcycle tires on them. I put turf tires on the back of my tractor but the tri ribs would tear up the turf when I turned. I found some motocross tires in 19", bought some tubes and mounted them. They have held up very well for the last 3 years and don't tear up the yard when I turn. I bought mine, but some guys have gotten them free from a motorcycle dealer from their used tire bin.

Oh! Now that's an idea! I'll have to see what I can come up with. Thanks for the replies and keep them coming!

The old 10-28 is now a 11.2-28. Don't know anything about the tire company you mention. You might also try local dealers who specialize in ag tires. New rims are about 100 each but sometimes a little more or less. Might get best deal by talking to dealer before he makes a seasonal order so he can get best discount, part of which might be passed to you. Mike-Iowa
